I know I'm supposed to love The White Lotus — but I just don't get the hype. The show has all the ingredients of a prestige television hit: beautiful locations, a talented cast, sharp social commentary, and a mystery that keeps you watching. Yet for me, it often feels like it's trying very hard to prove how clever it is.

The biggest issue is that many of the characters are deliberately unlikeable, but unlikeable doesn't always mean interesting. The series spends a lot of time watching wealthy people behave terribly, but the satire can feel repetitive rather than revealing.

Jennifer Coolidge's performance as Tanya has become one of the show's most celebrated elements, but it never worked for me. The character's exaggerated awkwardness and unusual mannerisms are clearly designed to be memorable, but I found the performance more distracting than entertaining.

But after all the praise, The White Lotus left me wondering what I was missing. It's stylish, clever, and beautifully made — I just didn't find it nearly as addictive or groundbreaking as everyone else seems to.
