The Sex Lives of College Girls

“When the nerds rule the school”
The Sex Lives of College Girls is the kind of easy, fizzy watch that makes you want to cancel your plans and order takeaway. The title sounds like it is trying to shock you, but the show itself is far more interested in four messy roommates figuring out who they are than in rattling anyone’s pearls.
Kimberly, Bela, Whitney and Leighton are a classic odd-couple-plus-two setup that somehow avoids feeling like a checklist. One is uptight, one is horny, one is an athlete with a secret and one is rich and hiding more than she admits. The trick is that the writing treats them like people, not punchline dispensers, so when the jokes land — and they land often — they actually sting.
It is not perfect. The later seasons wobble a little as cast members come and go, and the show occasionally mistakes loud for funny. But even at its shakiest it is still warm, funny and genuinely interested in female friendship, which is rarer than it should be.
A good, entertaining comfort watch with a filthy mouth and a soft heart. Put it on when you want something that feels like a night in with your loudest friend.
