“What happens when the catfish gets caught — and the woman they conned come looking for revenge?”

Love Con Revenge opens like a fantasy every romance-scam survivor has had: the woman who was conned turns up on the conman’s doorstep with a camera crew and a plan.

The host, who has been catfished herself, is what keeps me coming back, even when some cases leave you wondering whether justice has really been served.

The series weaves together multiple stories and investigations cleverly, keeping the pace moving and making it surprisingly hard to stop watching.

The survivors are easily the strongest part. Their testimony is specific, compelling and infuriating, and the show works best when it simply lets them explain how the scams operated rather than staging dramatic stakeouts.

What it never quite delivers is justice. That may be honest, but it is frustrating. You finish with a list of names, a churning stomach and nowhere to put any of it.

Worth watching for the survivors and the way their stories are pieced together — just keep your expectations of a satisfying ending firmly in check.
