“Where did you go, Libby? Where did you go, and why?”

Libby Squire was a 21-year-old student in Hull who never made it home after a night out in January 2019. Libby, Are You Home Yet? traces the seven weeks between her disappearance and the discovery of her body — and the investigation that followed.

The series is strongest in its first half, when it lives inside the search: her mother's appeals, the police door-to-door work, a city willing her home. The title comes from her family's messages to her, and the series honours that grief without exploiting it.

Where it stumbles is pacing. The procedural middle sags under repeated detail, and viewers who followed the case will find little new in the evidence as presented. The focus on the man convicted of her murder is handled soberly, but the series is more comfortable with the mourning than the motive.

Still, it's a humane account of a preventable tragedy, and it never loses sight of who Libby was.
