The twists only get sharper as the seasons go on. Push past the exaggerated Southern accents and it’s hard not to get hooked.

What really works is the tension between Ginny’s coming-of-age—race, identity, first love, a swirl of feelings—and Georgia’s ruthless, do-whatever-it-takes survival mode.

Add in the brooding neighbour, the simmering angst, and suddenly you’ve got full-blown teen drama playing out on the quietest street.

I enjoy this show more than The Summer I Turned Pretty—it’s a little sharper around the edges, a little more bruised, and far less interested in tying everything up with a neat bow.
