What it's about

A 1923 Paramount Network costume drama from Taylor Sheridan, because the man cannot stop. Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren run the Dutton ranch through Prohibition, drought, and the kind of family politics that always end in a shootout.

The verdict

It's Yellowstone with corsets and tuberculosis, and somehow that works. Mirren's voiceover narration could read a takeout menu and make it sound biblical. The Africa subplot is a wild detour that nearly derails the whole thing, but when the show stays on the ranch, it's pure sweeping prestige. Beautiful, brutal, occasionally bonkers.
